The Museum is a Magic Time Machine
In it you can make a trip over the past decade in minutes, see not only the past and present day but also look into the future, compare events of different epochs. A museum is a grand open commemorative book of mankind. Really, this is a book of memory, because the documents and objects collected in it store memory of the
past, pass it to our descendants.
In May 1985 the museum of local history was opened at School No.1 in Shchuchin on the
occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. From
September 2005 to May 2007 the school local history museum was a platform
of innovation activities for patriotic upbringing. To the 50th anniversary of the
first school graduation (01/21/1997) the museum room dedicated to the school
history was opened.
In July 2009, on the eve of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from
German-fascist invaders the historical Museum was converted into the Museum
of Combat glory. In July 2009 the Museum accepted the first visitors-veterans of
the great Patriotic war, district authorities , numerous guests: teachers and residents
of Shchuchin. The museum of Combat glory was created thanks to the financial
assistance of the Shchuchin District Executive Committee. The Artists of the
Grodno Unitary art enterprise "Mastatstva" took part in the design of the Museum
(the manager Vesna U.K.). Teachers and students of the school collected exhibits, documents for the Museum's exhibitions under the guidance of Khriptovich Lilia Nikolaevna the teacher of History of the highest category, who directed the work of the Museum from 1985 to 2017.
The Museum of Combat glory is located in two rooms with a total area of 78 sq.m, there is an isolated storage area of 21sq.m. The Museum has 1813 exhibits, including 603 items of the main Fund.
The most valuable exhibits are medals, orders of the participants of the liberation of Shchuchin from Nazi invaders, letters from the front (soldiers' triangles), Red Army books, Komsomol membership cards; thanks of the participants of the great Patriotic war, a book with the autographs of S. P. Shupenya ( commander of the Shchuchin partisan unit “Angry Shchara”) and D. Z. Kagan, the author of the book " Tell the living”; the knee plate of the former pilot, a participant of the war in Afghanistan Rudnitsky V.T.; a ribbon and a symbolic key to the town of Shchuchin, the diploma of the Honorary citizen of Shchuchin Anatoly Andreev, commander of the landing partisan detachment named after the Komsomol of Belarus. The exposition and archival materials reflect the history of Shchuchin Region in 1941-1944 (the beginning of the great Patriotic war), they contain the memories of people who witnessed the beginning of the war in Shchuchin, archival materials on the state of military equipment at the aerodromes in Shchuchin and Zheludok on the eve of the war, about the ramming of an enemy aircraft made on the Shchuchin land pilot by Peter Kuzmin, etc).
The exhibition "Occupation period" contains materials about prisoners of concentration camps and ghettos, as well as it tells about the fate of the Jews in Shchuchin and Zheludok.
The exhibition " Underground and partisan movement in Shchuchin Region during the great Patriotic war" is of great interest. A special place in this exhibition is occupied by the material about the activities of the landing partisan detachment named after the Komsomol of Belarus, whose commander was Anatoly Andreev.
The exhibition "Liberation of Shchuchin From Nazi invaders" contains the material about the history of the 50th army, which liberated Shchuchin, the materials about the soldiers-liberators Yuryev Nikolay Nikolaevich, Suvorov Alexander Petrovich, Pervushin Vasily Yakovlevich and others are also placed there.
On the basis of archival materials, the memories of relatives of the fallen soldiers on the Shchuchin land, the exposition "Monuments and obelisks on Shchuchin land"was created.
Diverse material about the history of the monument to the warrior-liberator on the mass grave of in the square of Shchuchin was collected and placed in this exhibition. 229 soldiers and 6 partisans were buried in the grave, they died in the summer of 1944 liberating our Shchuchin land. There is valuable correspondence with relatives of the victims, with military enlistment offices, archives and the information obtained as a result of this correspondence. Archival materials about the pilot Batyrev Pyotr Mikhailovich buried in a mass grave in Zheludok are placed in this exposition. Batyrev P. M. is the only Hero of the Soviet Union buried on Shchuchin land.
The exhibition "Honorary citizens of Shchuchin" tells about the awarding of this title to participants of partisan movement on Shchuchin land Andreyev A. E., Shupenya S. P., Belyakov N. N., Glazkov I. M. in 1977. The material of the exposition contains not only archival material obtained as a result of correspondence, but also the information about the meetings of these people with the members of the school Museum Council. Members of the Council collected the material and made a booklet about another 5 Honorary citizens of Shchuchin, who were awarded this high title for their great personal contribution to the development of medicine, construction and agriculture.
A special exposition of the Museum tells about the school teachers-veterans of the great Patriotic war.
The Museum exposition ends with the material about the sisters of Khatyn on Shchuchin land (the village of Zinyaki in Ostrino village Council and the village of Ogorodishche in Pervomaysky village Council).
For the 20th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan a new exhibition was designed with the participation of former Afghan soldiers in the Museum of Combat glory "Afghanistan: pain and anger." The exhibition tells about the history of the Afghan war, about our countrymen who died performing international duty in Afghanistan.
The Museum is managed by the Council. These are pupils of 5-11 forms, teachers who are the heads of sections created at the Museum Council, veterans of pedagogical labor and the Great Patriotic war. The Museum Council work plan is one of the components of the school annual work plan.

Carry out the "School Charter" and "Rules for Students," remember that the members of the Museum Council are an example for all students in the class and in school.

A member of the Museum Council should have only excellent and good knowledge of all school subjects.
All meetings of the Museum Council are opened with the Anthem of Red Traces, the author of which is the Chairman of the Museum Council (1987) Jurevich Olga and the anthem of the school, which was written and presented to the museum by Zdanovich Nina Sergeevna, the veteran of pedagogical labor, the teacher of primary classes. Workshops "Young guides" and "Museum business” operate on the basis of the museum. New guides are prepared at meetings of the workshops, the main and auxiliary funds of the museum are studied, the children learn to fill in the inventory book and make acceptance certificates for new exhibits . The school museum has become a center of patriotic upbringing. Every year the number of visitors of the museum grows. Among the visitors are students of schools of the town and district, students of secondary and higher educational institutions (former graduates of the school). Materials of the museum are widely used for writing reports, scientific and coursework works. Excursions based on the materials of the museum play an important role in the work of the museum. They are carried out mainly by students – guides. Both review and thematic excursions are prepared and held in the museum.

Every year the members of the Museum Council participate in the district youth car race "From Monument to Monument" on the eve of Victory Day. School Museum Council keeps in touch and exchanges experience with museums of Pervomaisk School, Rozhanka School, Ostrino School, Orlya School, Shchuchin agricultural lyceum, and with D.M.Karbyshev Museum (School № 15 in Grodno).
The museum became the center of educational work in the school. Communication with class tutors and students is maintained through the members of the Museum Council, certain search tasks are given, when performing the museum is filled with new exhibits. Class and information hours, lessons are held on the basis of the museum. The practice of the work included the preparation of a file cabinet which encloses lessons carried out using museum exhibits. The card indicates the date of the lesson, gives a list of museum exhibits available on this topic in the corresponding exposition of the museum. Such files are not used only by subject teachers (on the museum basis are held not only lessons of history, but also geography, Russian and Belarusian literature, foreign language, etc.), but also students during self-study work in the museum. The material of the Museum of Combat Glory is widely
used when conducting optional classes "Great Patriotic War in the
Context of the 2nd World War" in the 11th grades. By the decision
of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus No. 63 from
18.06.2014, the School Museum of Combat Glory was granted the
status of "Folk."
